Civic Centre Project

The project looking at moving Town Council activities into one central location has been progressing. This has been a dream of Council since the early 1990s' and is in the Town Plan of 2005.

A steering group made up of interested TIC Volunteers, the TIC manager, Library volunteers and the Library manager and Councillors has been chaired by former Mayor and TIC Volunteer John Nicholson. This group has been looking at the reasons for the suggested changes, the history, the implications and concerns, and will be reporting shortly to Council.

Showcasing Nailsworth

Town_Sign.jpg

Nailsworth displayed what it has to offer.

On Saturday 28th April the Annual Town Meeting hosted groups and organisations from across the town. The event  opened at 10:00am, and finished three hours later at 13:00pm.

The Town Awards will took place at 11:00am, followed by the Auction of a Nailsworth Town Sign. The Town Sign auction raised a wonderful £960 which has gone to NYCE, the Sub Rooms. There was also be the opportunity to question the Mayor and Town Council about Council activities.

Mobile Banking

PB160066.jpg

Our last bank branch closed earlier this year and this has made life quite difficult for businesses and those who rely on access to a bank. Our wonderful Post Office provides a great service, but this cannot always replace the services of a bank.

We are asking those that might use a mobile service in town to sign the petition here.

Thank you.

Grants for the Town

Council has a new Grants Policy, which has been designed with the intention of making it easier for residents to apply for grants. We don’t have a minimum amount and we are hoping that the Grant Budget is used to really improve the town by helping residents with projects, however small. We expect the recipients of NTC grants to complete a Monitoring Form afterwards, so we can see the benefit that the grant money has brought to the town.

Grants will be considered for projects that improve or enhance the town, for example:

  • quality of life
  • recreation, sports and well being
  • arts
  • local environment
  • neighbourhood communities
  • Nailsworth’s history

Links to the relevant documents are below: the policy document should answer most questions about our Grants, however feel free to speak to a councillor or call the Clerk’s office for more information.
